hi everyone,

I had someone here this morning that had worked on these type of machines for a lot of years. We tried a nmultitude of things including;

- trying the usb port

- reseating the controller card

- replacing the SD card (the one in there was giving an authentication error)

- coped the contents of the old SD card to the new one

- ping the ip address of the printer (successful from on port in the router, unsuccessful in another - probably a router issue)

- neither scanner nor printer buttons are working

At this point I am going to see if I can find a relacement controller card that is not too expensive

Well, it's possible that it's just broken. I'd triple check that there are no mistakes in the IP address and subnet mass you specified. If that's okay, I guess it goes out the door. If you give it to a local copier repair shop, they'll likely take it off your hands and might even pick it up. They've done that for me in the past with some larger copiers/printers.

Seems like maybe the network or control board might be bad.

D'oh! Thanks for that, Dan. I'd completely forgotten about the ping tests.

You can ping the printer so that's good can you try manually adding the printer via networking?

Show any errors.

I had the printer installed but I removed and tried to reinstall it. By the printers_lst.png you can see it at the bottom. There is a link that says there is a app for this printer, but when I click on it the other png opens and does nothing.

You're sure the driver you installed is for your Windows version? Did you ever call Ricoh about this?

That would be something you'd want to ask Ricoh about, as it's highly specific to their product. I don't have a Ricoh printer here, just a couple of Canons, and an HP on loan.

I assume you read the technote just above it, labelled "Important Notice":

The Support Status of Ricoh Drivers and Utilities for the Windows 10 April 2018 Update (Version 1803)

The support status of Ricoh drivers and utilities for the Windows 10 April 2018 Update (Version 1803) depends on whether the "Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support" setting is enabled. This setting is a new feature added in the Windows 10 April 2018 Update. The checkbox for this setting can be found by going to "Region" -> "Change system locale" -> "Region Settings".

1. When the "Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support" setting is disabled (by default),
Ricoh drivers and utilities for Windows 10 can be used without any problems.

2. When the "Use Unicode UTF-8 for worldwide language support" setting is enabled, issues might occur for some drivers. Ricoh is working to release drivers with the fix implemented, but for now, please make sure to disable the setting when using Ricoh drivers.
The following issues might occur if this setting is enabled:
- The printer driver installer might fail to run and an error message is displayed.
- The dialog of the printer driver installer might show garbled characters when a language displaying multibyte characters is configured as the Current system locale.
- The login username on the Smart Operation Panel might be garbled.
- The Header/Footer functions print with garbled characters

I  have not called Ricoh yet. I am going to talk to the Admin person at the place I previously worked at to see if she can talk to the Ricoh maintenance guy.

The driver I installed was from the URL that was provided to me early in this post.

As for the 'Use Unicode UTF8', I am assuming that when the checkbox is checked it is enabled. I unchecked it and then rebooted, tried printing again, with the same result.

Before I rebooted, I checked the Ricoh driver app (the grey screen I previously attached) and if I clicked on the hamburger there was a print option. When I clicked n that it told me there was nothing to print and to reopen a document. I tried doing this after rebooting but now the print option is gone and all I have now is 'Share' and 'Settings'

That would be something you'd want to ask Ricoh about, as it's highly specific to their product. - shplad, what was this referring to?

What I meant was:

You're getting what's called "network layer" connectivity with the printer, as proven by the fact it is responding to pings. You're able to install a driver for it, but it doesn't print.

Therefore, this is probably only something someone with Ricoh experience can help you with. I suggest you call them. This is coming from someone who used to minor to moderate service of printers.
