I would remove KIS and see if it still causes it. IMHO Kaspersky isn't all that great.

That was about to be my next piece of advice...but I was curious to see the Bluescreenview log first.

Yes killerx525, uninstall Kaspersky using Revo Uninstaller, and wait a few days (keep it off the internet, if possible). If you don't get any more BSOD's, congratulations...you get to choose a new AV program. And if you still get BSOD's, then Kaspersky likely wasn't your problem and you can reinstall it (or just find another as previously mentioned).

Let us know what you do.

I don't think Kaspersky is causing the problem. And do you mean like turning off kaspersky without uninstalling it? But i will definitely upload the bluescreen log.

I Have seen some issues with Kaspersky that are resolved by removing it. It is a worthless anti-virus.

Ehh...I wouldn't call it worthless. I've seen plenty of people that use it with no problem or infections. But sometimes it just doesn't work, as may be the case here. Any software can be incompatible.

Yes, you need to completely uninstall it and go without an AV for a few days (disconnected from the internet, if possible). That's the only way to know for sure. AV products are notorious for causing BSOD's....uninstall - no more problems. Then you have to find one that doesn't cause BSOD's. Like I said, I've seen Kaspersky work no problem plenty of times before....but that doesn't mean it always works. The only way to be sure is to uninstall it and try without it for a couple days.

Let me see that BSOD log when you get a chance. I'll probably say the same thing, but it can't hurt to look.

The latest BSOD is caused by ati this time!! The last two was caused by ntfs.sys. Weird with the ATI. Have a look at the log and it shows everything!

Yep i have the latest video card drivers. But it is weird how a ATI driver got involved. What can be done to repair ntfs.sys since it was the main cause for BSOD?

What video card do you have? ATI or Intel?

As for Ntfs.sys, we already did a sfc (system file check). Keep the dates of those old BSOD's in mind...if Ntfs.sys was corrupted, it should be fixed now. The only new BSOD was the ATI driver.

Ok, we'll do the ATI driver and knock that out as a possibility.

**READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS THROUGH AT LEAST ONCE BEFORE FOLLOWING THEM**

Print them out if you need to.

Download the driver here, but DON'T install it yet. Just save it to a conspicuous place like the Desktop. Take note of the disclaimer on that page... "Support is available for Windows Vista and Windows 7 to be used at your own risk."

Let's save a restore point in case something goes wrong (better to be safe than sorry). At the Start Menu, type rstrui and hit Enter. Create a new System Restore point. DO NOT proceed further until you do this step!!

Now, save all your work, close all open programs, and shut down the computer. Turn it back on, and as you see the TOSHIBA screen flash, start hitting the F8 key like it's going out of style. Keep hitting F8 until you see something like this. Chose Safe Mode and press Enter.

After it boots, log in as usual. Now, you should see a black desktop with some things that are out of order. Don't worry, this is normal with Safe Mode.

Start Menu > right-click Computer > Properties > Device Manager

Find your graphics card. Right-click it and click Uninstall. In the next window that pops up, be sure to check the "Delete the driver software for this device" option, and click OK. If it asks you to reboot (I don't remember if it will or not), please do so, but boot back into Safe Mode again. Once you are at the Desktop again (if it didn't ask you to reboot, then don't), double-click the driver you downloaded earlier and follow the prompts to install it. DO NOT install Catalyst Control Center (CCC).

Reboot back into normal mode.

I know it seems like I'm taking you around the world, but I have found that that is the best way to clean up and update your graphics card drivers (Safe Mode, delete, reinstall). It's worked many times for me.

If you still have problems, give me a description of what is happening, and if you get any BSOD's, be sure to do another Bluescreenview log. If we find it is caused by the new graphics driver, simply roll your computer back to that Restore point we made earlier.

But let's just hope that fixes it.

Any problems or questions with the instructions I just gave you? If anything is unclear, be sure to ask questions before proceeding.

i followed your steps but when i tried to install the downloaded file, it didn't work. When i was back in normal windows (no driver installed) i tried it again and it worked, then i had to restart. So pretty much the new ATI driver worked! I hope this fixes the BSOD.

Oh...I may have been a little off in my instructions...yes, I think you were supposed to boot back into normal mode to install the driver...

Anyway...yeah, at least it worked.

Like I said, Ntfs.sys should be fixed from the sfc we did earlier. And (hopefully) you won't have anymore problems with your ATI driver now.

If you do get another BSOD, be sure to post the new Bluescreenview log. But hopefully, that's the end of it.
