I agree with keyboardNinja, although I do use MSSE, I also use SpyBot Search & Destroy, Malwarebytes and Norman Malware cleaner, each which is set up to scan on demand, basically besides MSSE, I only allow SB S&D to run full time in the back ground to lock my Internet Exporer settings from being changed by possible browser hijack exploits, but there is nothing wrong with having several malware scanning tools on a computer at one time.

Sometimes one vendor may have the antidote to a piece of malware no one else has, so it gives you that extra safety-net and edge in getting ahead of the script kiddies who write bad harmful code.

Even Microsft installs a malicious/malware removal tool with automatic windows updates each month.

Uhh...I don't think you should have that many active protections running at once....Avast is necessary, Malwarebytes' is okay (supposed to not interfere with regular AV's), but SUPERAntispyware might be pushing the limit. I've never used the full version of it, so I don't know how well it handles system resources...especially competing with other active protections. I mean, you can try it, but I make no guarantees.

As a general rule, using more than one anti-spyware program like Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, SuperAntispyware, Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, etc will not conflict with each other or your anti-virus if using only one of them for real time protection and others as stand-alone scanners. In fact, doing so increases your protection coverage without causing the same kind of conflicts or affecting the stability of your system that can occur when using more than one anti-virus. The overlap of protection from using different signature databases will aid in detection and removal of more threats when scanning your system for malware. However, if using all their real-time resident shields (TeaTimer, Ad-Watch, MBAM Protection Module, Spyware Terminator Shields, etc) together at the same time, there can be conflicts when each application tries to compete for resources and exclusive rights to perform an action. Additionally, competing tools may even provide redundant alerts which can be annoying and/or confusing.

I'm assuming since you've got the full version of Avast (with firewall) that you've disabled the firewall built into Windows 7?

You might find this link interesting, altough it refers here to windows 2000, it also applies to windows 7.

It references the stop error: APC_INDEX_MISMATCH

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms818748

Also Microsofts compatibility web site for windows 7 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibi...us/default.aspx

I have tried Mr Bruce1959 suggestions and they all compatible. I have just diable SUPERAntispyware real time protection, see how it goes.

I have noticed some problems when people don't realize they have Windows Defender running along with other programs of the same type, and those conflicts are often over looked because Windows Defender does not stick out like the other programs do with the bloatware and such.

I am not sure why you have the purchased version of Malwarebytes when the "on-demand" scan does the same thing for free.

Basically you only want to have a virus scanner running full time.

One that automatically scans a file you download from the web and makes sure no malicious code is embedded in any emails you open.

As for malware scan tools, the program should be set up to run only when you execute it to scan your drive, or a questionable file. Other than that, the program should be idle, and not scanning all the time.

It saves on system resources as well.

You should only be running one active protection. So yes, you should disable Windows Defender, too.
