this is new to me.

I do not know how to copy 1 desktop to another user.

I guess that the copy data is greyed out because of some problem.

You go in your Desktop folder.

C:\Users\$OldUser\Desktop

Copy everything in it, and paste it in the new account's Desktop.

C:\Users\$NewUser\Desktop

Repeat the process for the Documents, Music, Videos, Pictures, etc. folders :)

I made the desktop copy and pasted into new user.

I then switched to the new user and the new desktop is pretty bare. There is a folder named desktop with the files inside.

Because you probably copy/pasted the Desktop folder itself, and not what it contains directly :P As long as your files and folders are transferred, it'll be fine.

You paste them in the Desktop folder of the new users, simple as that :)

If you need more detailed instructions, I'll write them once I get on the computer.

Sometime ago I reduced the icon size on my desktop about 50%. I thought it was in display. But the standard only goes larger.

My current screen resolution is 1600 x 900.

Right-click on the Desktop, select View and change the icon size: big, normal, small.

Thanks that got all the icons on screen.

And thank you for showing me how to check that net driver .

Is there a way to scan windows for issues ?

Are there any reliable windows tools ?

Years ago, on my 286 and 386 days I had pctools or norton utilities.

Is there a scan I should run here to see if this issue is done ?.

"Scanning Windows for issues" is just way too broad. Such programs would be considered PC Optimizers/Registry Cleaners and as you know, they shouldn't be used. What you can do is make sure that your Windows files are intact using SFC.

EndqYRa.pngSystem File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;
  • On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select Spcusrh.pngRun as Administrator
  • On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
  • Enter the command below and press on Enter;
    sfc /scannow
    Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
  • Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;
Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't contains the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

We could use SFCFix to go throught the CBS.log, but I prefer to have it all since there's more information in it :)

Only utc.app.json and telemetry.ASM-WindowsDefault.json are reported as "corrupted" by SFC, but this is a false positive. These files are intact and Microsoft said that they will fix this in a future update (no timeframe on it). In other words, your CBS.log is clean.

Well then, since the removal of the comodo leftovers my computer has been " acting " better.

Last night when logging off windows tried to update on shutdown, there was a message that two of the  updates failed.

I was able to uninstall java and the adobe reader and  flash.

I did have to reset the router this morning, I'll see if that persists.

I rechecked the net drivers, comodo is still gone.

Is there anything that you think I need to check, update or delete ?

Jerry
