If you previously installed CCleaner a while ago, its probably an outdated version by now so be sure to uninstall it. Then create a new folder to extract the zipped version into and create a shortcut on your desktop.

The next time a new version is released, you can just extract it to that same folder and it will overwrite the old files with the new.

I included the FilePuma link in Post #39 as part of my list of safe third-party downloading hosting sites. However, in most cases, I recommend downloading directly from the vendor's site if it does not redirect to a "not so safe" third-party hosting site. CCleaner's download comes direction from their site. If you look around at the vendor's site sometimes they include a download page with other builds to include a standard full installer package, a slim version, and a portable version. I generally recommend (and use) portable versions of software whenever possible as they typically are stand-alone applications in a zipped version which do not bundle or install anything else. CCleaner's full installer (ccsetup***.exe) is bundled with a toolbar (i.e. Google, Yahoo), the portable version is not. Using even a safe third-third party downloading site may not provide the other builds.

CCleaner (other builds)

For all software I know on today (about), utilities, PM, it can be unchecked to not to install alongside, with. If there's any that say "it should be installed" - make a dedicated post on that, with their titles. You do have time on that, don't you?

...For all software I know on today (about), utilities, PM, it can be unchecked to not to install alongside...

That option does not always work as intended.
