I'm laughing here. I finished one little WU of 5,000 and jumped way up in the standings? 502293 of 703422 on Tue May 1 12:00:00 UTC 2007

I can't wait to see what happens after the Toshi spits out that 250,000 unit later tonight.

Thanks Yano - that is a nice graphical link.

I've become intrigued by the methods behind the madness of WU assignments now.

After finishing that 250,000 unit I'm ranked 352325 of 703860;
and received another 250,000 WU to replace it on the Lappy.

I'm running at 95% near full time on both systems with little apparent interference. I do turn them up to 100% when not working my systems.

Now, I'm wondering what might happen if I boosted the RAM in both these little units.

Aside: I'm looking around at the junk systems in my storage awaiting rehab - wondering again.

I would say a lot sooner,now you have 2 machines Folding WU's,'BlackSpyder'
Anything we can do to find cures quicker, is well worth the effort involved.

Ah yes the Laptop...........lets just say that its not going so well. It takes 3 weeks to finish a 5000 frame WU and will probably have to come down as soon as we figure out how to get wireless on Yoda's Lappy because Windows is much too space consuming for it. But I agree Anything for the cause.

KY word of advice avoid P3's as they are not very good at folding (take forever and a day to finish small WU's)

God F@H is at war with me. Not only did it kill itself yesterday and shows a wrong WU count due to a reinstall and stuff. It also decided to start my 125 frame unit all over again, although i was already at like 95 grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Why not P3? I am using a P2 333Mhz and it works fine. As long as it helps people out I do not care how long it takes.

The reason i said not to use a P3 is that when paired with 128/256 MB RAM and Windows XP. Windows likes to take up all the system resources and leave F@H with next to nothing to work with. I kept getting warnings about memory usage and Pagefile.

Thanks for the warning there BlackSpyder.

Most systems I have to rehab are AMD's.

First Intell I've had in a long time is the new Toshiba lappy.

Fold on! at whatever speed on can. It all counts in the end.

Dear Fox,

The quick Australian "Fox" has eluded the "Spyder" for another day. Perhaps tomorrow the "Spyder" shall catch the "Fox" but for today I tip my Corona (as it is near Cinco de Mayo) and say Fold on. :flowers:

I fixed the issue of memory warnings I installed Xubuntu which has allowed me free up my Hard Drive (6GB XP had 5 of it - Gee wonder why I dont have much of a pagefile). Xubuntu also seems lighter on my system resources (memory and CPU) so the Laptop is back up sooner then I expected.

Put your hardhats and goggles on.
I'm sneaking up behind you all - one WU at a time.

(FYI - those 250,000 units give up 500 points - whoosh!)

How do you get those units done so fast? And why dont they restart for you and do it for me? :flowers: :trumpet: I am only at 21/125 again, afte F@H decided to crash and when i finally got it back to work, it just pretended it never did the WU, or rather had problems takling home and as a cause neglected my status of 85/125 or what it was :inlove:

Like to know the Specs of the PC,your folding with 'Koan". My guess, because you are overtaking everyone so fast,it is OverClocked to the Max. That secret, I guess we will never know.
One Question,Does your Motherboard Glow in the dark.

EDIT.Just finished another 5000 WU. This is the 3rd 5000 with no points update. Been 6095 for ages. 344 points for folding 24/7 for 7 days. :flowers:

YH: I did have some problems getting the second 250,000 WU to set up and run.
I switched to the console.exe from the graphical. That Vista system is now well into its third large WU.

DSTM: I am running two systems folding.
One is Vista Home Premium on an Intel 1600 core duo with 2gigs Ram overclocked 10%.
(I didn't set it over - my Tech did as an experiment.)

The other is an older XP Home, AMD 1600 Sempron also with 2 gigs Ram.
It seems to eat the 5,000 units in about 52 hours or so mostly running at 75%
