I disabled all you suggested and uninstalled the recommended programs as well.  I did install CrashPlan Code 42 for free but recently found out that they are going commercial.  I haven't rebooted yet to gage the effect of all of the disabled startups and tasks.

Keep in mind that you can Re-enable any of those Startups and Tasks if you see a reason to using CCleaner.

The problem appears to be completely gone.  I still don't understand how the hijacker was able to disable Malwarebytes and then change the Chrome "new tab" to a different webpage which had icons for FaceBook and many other social media programs.  Thanks for your help.
