Strange things haven't happened since then.MSE is still slow to start but it starts.I got one error code from it but it seems to be working fine.I'v followed all of your instructions from the past posts listed above;I had no problem installing anything.Could it have just been the site redirecting me and not a virus on my computer? I haven't done a scan since the installation of the recommended programs.Well everything does seem normal, thanks for your help.

Run Malwarebytes and see if it finds anything

there are web pages that look like a scan to try and get you to buy their product and don't do anything to the computer and seems like this is what happened

I also ran a scan with AVG and nothing came up.

Before the scan I used Revo to do an uninstall and then I ran TFC.After I ran TFC I got error messages;here are two of them:

TFC: TFC.exe-Corrupt File

The file or directory C:\Documents and Settings\Sickness\Local Settings\temp\WEROcfb.dir00\appcompat.txt is corrupt and unreadable. Please run
the Chkdsk utility.

I also did the PC Analyzer scan with AVG and it found the following errors:

Registry Errors: 1,561 errors found
Junk Files: 21 errors found
Fragmentation: 42% fragmented
Broken Shortcuts: 313 errors found

There was also an offer to download and run AVG PC Tuneup (only available to free users once then it can be purchased).Should I do it?

Thanks so much for your help,I know its a lot.

I can't install adobe flash in Firefox (which I just installed).I used a link through Adobe's site & through Firefox's addon site. After I restarted my PC my firewall was off and my identity protection was turned off also but I was able to turn it back on manually.I started firefox and I got this message:GetPlus+ Error unable to load a GUI.

Hello

well lets try checkdisk and see if it helps

run chkdsk
  • Got to Start, Run and type cmd and hit Enter
  • When the command window comes up, type: chkdsk c:
  • hit Enter again.
  • Maximize the command window, and wait for the scan to finish.
  • Read the results carefully to see if it says that it found problems with your file system.
IF it has found any problems with your file system,
  • Go To Start, Run and type cmd
  • hit Enter
  • Type this into the command window at the prompt:
    • chkdsk c: /F <==notice the /F, with one space between c: and /F
  • hit Enter
  • You will get a message that the volume is locked, and a request to do the repair on Reboot.
  • Answer Y
  • Then type exit to close the Command window.
  • Go to Start, Turn Off Computer and choose Reboot
  • It will scan again and make the repairs as the first part of the reboot process.

After it reboots, run the first sequence again (without the /F parameter), and see if it still shows an error.
Tell me what it found originally, and if there was a problem, whether the final sequence showed no errors.
It's possible that the chkdsk c: /F sequence may have to be run on reboot twice to pick up everything.

I have not used it or heard of it so I really can't say - but it sounds more like a registry cleaner and those I am not in favor of

Let me know about checkdisk

I Ran the first sequence as instructed then the second once I saw the message: windows found problems with the file system.Run the /F <fix> option to correct this.I ran the second sequence twice and it fixed nothing. Also before I ran this I turned on my computer and there was a message box prompting me to sign in or switch profiles because I cannot run some program (which wasn't named).I did have my account set to limited so I did a test.I switched between limited and administrator and it didn't appear again.

Hello

Registry Errors: 1,561 errors found
Junk Files: 21 errors found
Fragmentation: 42% fragmented
Broken Shortcuts: 313 errors found

If you mean these don't worry they are not causing any harm, registry cleaners should be avoided as they can do alot more harm than good

I would defragment your harddrive as it does look like it needs it
