I've also posted this to the MBAM forum.

The NoScript extension is being reported on Hackademix's forum website (InformAction) as breaking Chromium browsers starting today (2/3/22) with the new update.

https://forums.informaction.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=26513&sid=2589815fb0e85a8f9c979e8828d4dd67

According to the dev's comment on https://forums.informaction.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=26513&start=21:
The dev has identified a problem with a recent Chrome change that broke his new update. When he tried to unpublish the new version on Google Play, it caused the NoScript page to disappear there. He has provided a fix. He is working on 11.2.18 and will get that published ASAP.

Basically, the problem is that the extension (and, I imagine, other extensions that rely on access to file URLs) ceases to work correctly, causing websites to not be fully functional, although they may display (Gmail won't load if you try to open the page - it gets stuck loading, the MBAM forum will load but you won't be able to post and stuff, etc.). You should disable the extension and skip to #5 before re-enabling it. If that doesn't work, you'll have to remove and reinstall it.

He has provided a download to this version https://github.com/hackademix/noscript/releases/tag/11.2.16

If you're doing an install of NoScript during this problem, follow these instructions. Click on an image to enlarge it without being sent to another page.

1. After that, extract the file (I used 7zip) to a local directory (you can choose or make one).

2. Then go into the extensions settings and click the "Developer mode" on switch/option.

3. Click "Load unpacked".

4. Select the folder you unpacked NoScript to and click "select folder".

5. NoScript will be added to your extensions. Click on 'Details".

6. Make sure that "Allow access to file URLs" is turned on, and it should now work correctly. Reload affected sites.

Thank you, good folk, for your assistance. That's kind of a clumsy way to do it, but I'm sure it has to do with security. I wouldn't have known! Hopefully, this post will soon be outdated by Mr. Maone completing the process of resolving the conflict. ;)

Although the original problem was rapidly resolved, a new issue cropped up on Monday where previously approved websites are requiring reapproval and, again, is affecting all Chromium-based browsers. Some people are experiencing issues with it being specific to Cloudflare, but my experience has been pretty much everywhere that I'd already approved suddenly requiring a specific part of it to be approved. For example, YouTube Studio, which I'd used on 2/6 to upload videos, worked just fine but on 2/7 the very same functions were blocked by NS until I approved them. For a novice user, I have no doubt that this would be confusing and frustrating.

Update: Mr. Maone has made great progress in repairing the functionality of NoScript, although there are minor issues remaining wherein certain pages have to be reloaded for the permissions to be applied by NS.

It has been available for several browsers for quite a while now.
