I've been a fan of Unchecky for several years and I've not had an unexpected Download (PUP) since installing it

Yes, I especially remember that Unchecky was silently blocking Adobe Flash Player's various 3rd-party bundled software while I still (in December 2020) had AFP installed on my computer. :)

I notice that whilst you have 'Malwarebytes Browser Guard' listed you don't include Malwarebytes itself.

Whilst you shouldn't normally run two AV/AM's at the same time:
Malwarbytes Premium is designed to run happily alongside another Antivirus in real time without conflict, giving you extra layers of real time protection.
It's very easy to run it alongside Windows Defender, a simple toggle in the GUI. You may need to set a couple of exceptions in other AV's.
It's had that capability for years, this blog is originally from 2013:
https://blog.malwarebytes.com/malwarebytes-news/2013/08/malwarebytes-av-compatibility-report/

Malwarebytes Free doesn't run in real time, but you can use it for 'second opinion' manual scans.

Either one is an option that some may like to consider, but everyone has their own preference of course.

PS. I actually run a testing/beta subset of the main Malwarebytes (Malwarebytes Anti Exploit Beta) in real time alongside Defender with no problems.
It has on occasion stopped things that Defender hadn't spotted.

With all due respect, I intentionally do NOT include Malwarebytes itself because it is Antimalware Software and this thread is about alternative and supplemental security software.

However, I will admit that the thread title is a bit cryptic with the double AV/AM abbreviations but the post itself clearly states Antivirus/Antimalware.

That's fair enough, and I did realise your original intention.

I just thought it worth mentioning that you can use Malwarebytes to supplement an AV.

Many people don't know that. Possibly because of their advertising saying that it can replace an AV.

Used to able to*

Due to their attempts (which they failed) to become an actual antivirus, it no longer seems possible to run it alongside another AV, causing huge performance decrease, lock ups and CPU usage, even when exclusions were added, this is exactly why I didnt use a one year activation key I got in a giveaway.

I suppose AdwCleaner and Emsisoft Emergency Kit fit the description as supplement for the AV/AM security. Both are on demand scanners and effective.

I run these two every month for that extra sense of security feeling.

"...causing huge performance decrease, lock ups and CPU usage..."   On my two W7pro laptops, I had to downgrade from 4 to 3 to 2.x to finally reach a useful balance of available hardware resources and desired software functionality.  I have MbAM premium, which covers both laptops, both SGTAs, and LGK40. Routinely using MB AntiRoot (on-demand scan) utility and MB AM 2.x.  Those two alligators keep company with other alligators in the moats surrounding my castles.

Addendum, adding OldsOd: [monthly running] AdwCleaner and Emsisoft Emergency Kit  - I do that also.

@ Roland Does the version 2 still properly update? I thought it was unsupported.

Also I use this .bat file for on-demand scanning of  my Download Folder with the Emsisoft Emergency Kit (Change the user directory to your own user in the .bat file and change to EEK to your default folder title instead of mine..leave it in the Download directory or anywhere that is handy to use, as it is a handy tool for quick extra scanning of downloads). I call it EEK.bat :

C:\EEK\bin64\a2cmd.exe /f="C:\Users\Standard\Downloads"/m /t /a /q="C:\EEK\quarantine\"

I'm definitely keeping and using this!

"Does the version 2 still properly update? I thought it was unsupported."  Yes and No.  No, it will not automatically update either version or data files.  Yes, I can manually click on data update -- and it does so.  2.x offers some protection, better than no protection.

I have the two available RealTime modules on, running from the moment Windows & MBAB wakes up.

I used malwarebytes premium for a few months. It slowed my hp compaq pro 6200 with 4gb of Ram down to a snail like speed. I do not recommend MalwareBytes @ all.

Jessie, that is precisely the reason I went from MBAM 4 to 3 to 2.x, and stayed with 2.x, at least I am covered until premium runs out.  I have been wondering if I should go back to Emsisoft AV/AM full coverage, I had no problems back then related to speed of things.
