Quicky Translator Removal Guide

  • November 13, 2015

Quicky Translator is an adware program from the Trojan.Tech-Support-Scam family that states it a language translation program, but instead displays a constant stream of fake security alerts and browser alerts that are designed to scare you into calling a remote support company. When infected, Quicky Translator will create a a Windows service and startup executable that sets multiple timers for when an alert should be shown. At the end of these timers, a program called Quicky.exe will be launched that will display desktop pop-up alerts called Notice that cover the entire screen and prevent you from doing your normal work. This program will also configure your machine to use a Proxy Server that injects javascript alerts into your browser with warnings that you are infected with malware. These browser alerts prevent you from using your browser or browsing web pages.

  • Fake Warning in Desktop Notice
  • Fake Security Alert in Chrome
  • Fake Security Alert in Internet Explorer
  • Fake Security Alert in Safari

The alerts that are shown are designed to make you think that there is something wrong with your computer so that you will then call the listed remote support number. If you called that number, you would then be told that your computer is infected and they would try to sell you a service in order to fix it.

The text of browser alert is:

There is a .net frame work file missing due to some harmful virus

Debug malware error 895-system 32.exe Failure.

It is important to note that Quicky Translator is is installed by free programs that you download from the Internet, which did not adequately disclose that other software would be installed along with it. Therefore, it is important that you pay close attention to license agreements and installation screens when installing anything off of the Internet. If an installation screen offers you Custom or Advanced installation options, it is a good idea to select these as they will typically disclose what other 3rd party software will also be installed. Furthermore, If the license agreement or installation screens state that they are going to install a toolbar or other unwanted adware, it is advised that you immediately cancel the install and not use the free software.

Without a doubt, this program provides absolutely no benefit to the computer it is installed on. In fact, I would probably classify this program more as malware, rather than adware, due to how it takes over your computer with invasive security alerts. To remove Quicky Translator, and any related programs, please you use the removal guide below to remove it and other related programs for free.
