Microsoft says that Windows 10 version 1803 devices reaching the end of 18 months of service will start receiving the Windows 10 May 2019 Update as part of an effort to keep them well serviced and in a secure state.
"We are initiating the Windows 10 May 2019 Update for customers with devices that are at or nearing end of service and have not yet updated their device," says Microsoft.
"Keeping these devices both supported and receiving monthly updates is critical to device security and ecosystem health."

Feature Update for Windows versions reaching end of service
This move was prompted by a large number of computers still running the April 2018 Update, a Windows version that will reach end of service on November 12, for both the Home and the Pro editions.
This means that once end of service is reached, the devices will no longer be able to receive and install monthly security and quality updates with security fixes for all the latest security issues,
The delivery of the Windows 10 May 2019 Update to April 2018 Update devices will be initiated during July to make sure that the entire update process will go as smooth as possible.
Our update rollout process takes into consideration the scale and complexity of the Windows 10 ecosystem, with the many hardware, software, and app configuration options users have, to provide a seamless update experience for all users. We closely monitor update feedback to allow us to prioritize those devices likely to have a good update experience and quickly put safeguards on other devices while we address known issues. - Microsoft
Customers who haven't updated their Windows 10 Home and Pro edition installations to the latest version of Windows 10 will also "have the ability to pause the update for up to 35 days so they can choose a convenient time."
Installing the Windows 10 May 2019 Update
At the moment, as Microsoft announced on June 7, Windows 10 version 1903 (also known as Windows 10 May 2019 Update) is now available to all customers who manually check for updates via the Windows update dialog.
To install the latest Windows 10 release, users have to click on the Start button, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and then manually check for updates.

Microsoft provides a support document to help Windows users troubleshoot various problems while updating Windows 10, as well as a guided walk-through with all the steps needed to fix any errors.
Right now, the only users who can't update their Windows 10 installation by manually checking for updates are those with devices blocked by the six compatibility update blocks still in place for Windows 10 version 1903:
• The dGPU may occasionally disappear from device manager on Surface Book 2 devices
• Unable to discover or connect to Bluetooth devices
• Display brightness may not respond to adjustments
• Intel Audio displays an intcdaud.sys notification
• Cannot launch Camera app
• Intermittent loss of Wi-Fi connectivity
