Cd Wont Work

i have a diamond data dvd/cd-rom burner it will read any dvd i put in in but i have a lot of trouble getting it to read cds it will read most brought cds but does not like to read blank ones i have tried tdk imation and now verbatim it is only 17 months old it will be under warranty but i am hoping its only something simple i have gone into properties and tried to slow the speed down but the drive does not even recognised that there is a disc in there some times when i try to put picture on there i could spend one hour putting one cd in after another till one finally works my only concern with changing things is i use the dvd part the most and dont want to up set that

You might want to try cleaning the lens. There's a lens cleaning CD that has little brushes on it. You can get it usually wherever CD's are sold. Mark

If I'm reading this correctly you are saying that the CDs that are purchased will play without a problem, but copies made on media like TKD, Imation, and Verbatim can't be read. Are these CD-R or CD+R, or a mix? Some optical drives don't like certain media.

One other option would be to see if you can upgrade the firmware.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

thanks i will try the different cds but what and where do i get firmware
