I've been getting pop ups like crazy and have tried to fix this on my own but it is evidently beyond my capabilites.
I followed the instructions on the "Preparation Guild for use before posting a Hijackthis Log' and would like to post my log for help.
Any advice to get rid of the pop ups is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I notice from the log that there are running more than one different Anti-Virus programs with Auto-protect enabled. TrendMicro, McAfee and Norton/Symantec
Never install more than one Antivirus and Firewall! Rather than giving you extra protection, it will decrease the reliability of it seriously! Even with your three Antivirus running, it doesn't appear to even detect and remove the ServiceThreadHandler.Process TROJAN along with the other malware present.
The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, your system may lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Also because more than one Antivirus and Firewall installed are not compatible with eachother, it can cause system performance problems and a serious system slowdown.

So you have to make a decision here and keep the Antivirus you prefer and uninstall the other one.
Then reboot after uninstalling.

Also uninstall SpywareBot if still present in add/remove programs.

Then, * Download Combofix to your desktop.
Doubleclick combofix.exe
Follow the prompts.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished and after reboot (in case it asks to reboot), combofix will open again to gather the necessary information for the log. This may take a bit. When done, Combofix will close and a log should open, combofix.txt.
Post the contents of this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.
Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt - unless I ask you to.

Wow, thanks so much for the quick response.

I'm confused because I had uninstalled norton ages ago,and it does not show up in the add/remove programs list. It does show on program files but when I try to access it, the program can not be found.
In the security center for mcAfee the virus scan does not show as installed, only the firewall which I do have turned on.
McAfee virus scan also does not show up in add/remove programs.

So neither of these programs are really gone? Geez, how do I remove them if I can't find them?

Spywarebot is not present in add/remove programs but spy bot, search and destroy is. Those are 2 different programs, correct?

Hi,

Yes, SpywareBot is different from Spybot s&D. If it's not present then don't worry.

Some Norton/Symantec related components are still up and running.
Now I see you only have the McAfee Firewall installed. It's a pity to see that it installed these extra components (Security Center etc) which cause an extra slowdown on top.

Anyway, just leave it as it is now... we'll deal with Norton/Symantec afterwards. Let's deal with malware first.

Hi,

* Open notepad - don't use any other texteditor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\tasks\SpywareBot Scheduled Scan.job
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pdqckdqe.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\bayvonyc.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jguvungb.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pvuwiuid.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\geeba.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\msnprcss.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\srvnst.exe

Folder::
C:\DOCUME~1\Rhonda\APPLIC~1\SpywareBot

Driver::
sysprcm
ySvcHst

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{F4DB15D6-4C76-4519-9264-BDCE93E04EEE}]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"SpywareBot"=-

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog.

Hi,

Normally popups should be gone now...

We'll have to run Combofix once with a new CFScript, because there's still some info I need and we're going to delee Norton leftovers with it as well. But before you do..

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

O9 - Extra button: EmpirePoker - {77E68763-4284-41d6-B7E7-B6E1F053A9E7} - C:\Program Files\EmpirePoker\EmpirePoker.exe (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: EmpirePoker - {77E68763-4284-41d6-B7E7-B6E1F053A9E7} - C:\Program Files\EmpirePoker\EmpirePoker.exe (file missing)
O16 - DPF: {2D2BEE6E-3C9A-4D58-B9EC-458EDB28D0F6} - http://www.drivecleaner.com/.freeware/inst...leanerstart.cab

The following are Symantec/Norton leftovers, so check them as well:

O23 - Service: ScriptBlocking Service (SBService) - Symantec Corporation - C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\SYMANT~1\SCRIPT~1\SBServ.exe
O23 - Service: Symantec Network Drivers Service (SNDSrvc) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe
O23 - Service: Symantec SPBBCSvc (SPBBCSvc) - Symantec Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exe

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Then, let's create a new CFScript that we will use, so open notepad again..
Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

Folder::
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared
C:\DOCUME~1\Rhonda\APPLIC~1\SpywareBot

Driver::
SBService
SNDSrvc
SPBBCSvc

DirLook::
C:\info
C:\Program Files\Tools
C:\Program Files\Setup

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog.
