My mobo is not detecting my new Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (Perpendicular Recording) ST3320620A 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive when i boot in to bios. I have no idea what to do with the drive's jumpers and have left them alone. Any suggestions? the ide cable does not seem to stay in the HDD drive very well but im certain it can go in no further.

sata would be better, ide/pata is best saved for optical drives(dvd burners)

Make sure the jumper is set for master (no slave) not master with slave. Some have those selections. The cable connection to the back of the drive sounds like a cause for concern

since there's only one pata port(2 devices) I assume you have an optical drive connected to the cable also?
