McAfee has alerted me for some time now that I have the Generic PUP.q. The window that appears gives me three options: Remove, Allow or Ignore. Initially, I clicked Remove everytime, but ultimately would wind up with a message that stated this PUP cannot be removed. Eventually, I did a search and found that bleepingcomputer.com had a fix for this problem. I followed all the steps to the letter, but still continued to have the PUP. I posted this as a new topic and received the Preparation Guide that I am now using. It was very involved and did cause problems with my computer. I lost the ability to connect to the Internet and had to contact Comcast for troubleshooting. After spending 30-45 minutes on the phone, a very nice tech was able to help me get my computer up and running again. I had to use the ADD/REMOVE function (or install on the All Programs) to remove all the previous antivirus, etc. programs your instructions had me install. I spent almost the entire day yesterday finally getting everything worked out (hopefully) and have now arrived at the conclusion to the process. I am not sure what a PUP is, much less a Generic PUP.q), but feel that my computer has not acted normally in all respects since I acquired it. For instance, I have no "Contents and Index" in the Help menu on Internet Explorer 6 (I upgraded to Internet Explorer 7 some time ago, but it wiped my computer out. I had to take it to a repair shop. They said it was a very difficult problem to diagnose, but found that
Ver. 7 had a conflict with some other software on my system so they deleted it and reinstalled Ver. 6).
I simply want my computer back to it's normal state without alerts like the PUP that McAfee identifies, but cannot fix.Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2

Welcome to the BleepingComputer HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum FlyerEd
My name is Richie and i'll be helping you to fix your problems.

Download and run Fixwareout from the link below:
After the reboot post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt in your next reply.

Please download Combofix and save to your desktop:
It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop

Close any open browsers.
Double click on combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's finished it will produce a log.
Post the entire contents of C:\ComboFix.txt into your next reply.
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running.
That may cause the program to freeze/hang.

Also post a new Hijackthis log please.
