I hope I am using the right forum, but I keep getting a screen popping up saying something has been downloaded onto my computer that is causing windows to shut down. The problem is, we haven't really downloaded anything expect the HP Digital camera I got for Xmas. I did A HiJack log. could you look at it?

Thank you.

I need to get samples of some of your files. Please create a folder called c:\submit. Now copy the following files into that directory:

C:\WINDOWS\vsnpstd2.exe

To copy the files simply navigate to the directory they are in and right click on them and then click on copy. Then paste these files into the c:\submit directory. Once the files are all copied I need you to zip the folder and rename submit.zip to yourmembername.zip (for example grinler.zip). If you are using XP or ME right-click on the folder and click on the Send To option and then send it to a compressed folder. You will now see a file called submit.zip. If you are using another version of Windows, please download a program called Winzip and zip it using that. Then go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/submit-malware.php fill in the required fields, and browse to the file. Then click on the Send File button.

Download the attached zip file and unzip it to your desktop.

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf

Right-click on the deldomains.inf file and select 'Install' then post a new log

Also what digital camera do you have?

I cannot do another HJT log, my anti-virus keeps deleting it saying its a worm. I have a HP camera 3.2. It is HP 733 photosmart.

Update your virus definitions on MCafee . It should no longer flag HJT as a infection

You are currently using hijackthis from a temp directory. This can cause problems. Please create a directory on your c: drive called c:\hijackthis and download and unzip hijackthis into that directory. Run the program from that directory from now on.

For a tutorial on how to use HijackThis please see the following link:

Using HijackThis to Remove Spyware, Browser Hijackers, and Dialers

Print out these instructions and then close all windows including Internet Explorer.

Then I want you to fix some of those entries. Please do the following:

Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:

How to see hidden files in Windows

Run Hijackthis again, click scan, and Put a checkmark next to each of these. Then click the Fix button:

I have done what you asked except for one thing, I don't know how to start in safe mode. I had new CPU and motherboard installed and F8 does work for safe mode. I hope I am not being dense, but what control how safe mode is started. It is an AZUS A7V400-MX motherboard and a AMD Athlon XP 2200+ CPU. The only file I have is the c:\windows\system32\nvsc32.exe. Here is my new post.

To enter safe mode do the following:

Step 1: Close all programs so that you have nothing open and are at the desktop.

Step 2: Click on the Start button then click on Run.

Step 3: In the Run field type msconfig as shown in the image below.

Step 4: Press the OK button and the System Configuration Utility will start up. You will then see a screen similar to Figure 2 below.

Step 5: You should now press the Advanced button designated by the red box in the figure above and you will see a screen similar to figure 3 below.

Step 6: Place a checkmark in the checkbox labeled "Enable Startup Menu" designated by the red box in Figure 3 above. Then press the OK button and then the OK button again. Windows 98*Grinler will now prompt if you would like to reboot as shown in Figure 4 below.

Step 7: Press the Yes button and your computer will restart into Safe Mode.

Step 8: When the computer boots up perform what diagnostic or troubleshooting tasks you require.

Step 9. When you are finished with these tasks, complete steps 1-7 again, but in Step 6 this time uncheck the checkbox labeled "Enable Startup Menu".

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nvsv32.exe] asr_fnt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplScan] nvsc32.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [nvsv32.exe] asr_fnt.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [nvsv32.exe] asr_fnt.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [NvCplScan] nvsc32.exe

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then delete these files or directories (Do not be concerned if they do not exist)

c:\windows\system32\asr_fnt.exe
c:\windows\system32\nvsc32.exe

Reboot your computer to go back to normal mode and post a new log.
