Some games can't usually be played in windowed mode. I thought I could get around this with either built in remote desktop on Windows XP pro (so I can check e-mail and some other tasks) or UltraVNC. One game was Starcraft (I know it's old, but I like it and haven't played it in while). I have a wireless network but it seemed too slow, so would connecting them directly make a difference? If it would work, how would I do it?

Most likely wouldn't work, too much changing on the screen for a VNC connection of any sort to keep up, even over a wired network I would be highly doubtful of any success at all.
