I've been trying to delete files in My Documents by holding down the 'Ctrl' key - and then clicking half a dozen or so unwanted files - and then clicking 'Delete'.

Half the time this works - but half the time all these files are copied instead.

What's going on here? Is there another way of deleting groups of files from My Documents or My Pictures?

Thanks for any help with this.

My Windows is a bit finicky this way - usually when I'm deleting a bunch of files that aren't next to each other. I've found that it has to do with moving the cursor after the files are highlighted. Try using the "Del" key rather than the context menu.

Thanks for your reply, usasma.

With a bit more trial and error I finally found out what I was doing wrong.

When I held down the 'Ctrl' key and started clicking different items on My Pictures to delete them, half the time this would copy them instead of deleting the files that I had highlighted.

The problem was that I clicked the items one after the other too quickly.

When I slowed down clicking the different items - I had no more problems.
