Looking to upgrade my CPU right now i have a P4 2.4ghz HT,...800mhz FSB, im looking for a new processor and i know athlon 64x2s are cheaper than core 2 duo. Are tehy better, same...any advantages... I also am looking for a processor within the 1066mhz-1200mhz(or whatever it is) FSB's. Which would be better for these specs.

Are you planning to replace the motherboard? If not, can you give us the model of the motherboard or the make and the model of your computer if it is off the shelf.

Intel and AMD use different sockets, so you would have to change motherboards as well.

At the moment the Intel Core 2 Duo is the best CPU on the market, and this begrudgingly comes from a Athlon fan.

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

This brings the 6000+ to the price of an expensive Pentium D. Intel is starting to charge more money for less performance compared to AMD by the way it looks tomorrow. If you have the patience to wait a day, buy an AMD.

Money talks, again. The price point of AMD chips will be better. Remember, history shows us that intel and amd both drop prices just before a big release. Then we have the fire sale prices. IMHO, the barcelona will be a core 2 duo killer.

Wow, does the name Barcelona carry some power. I almost laughed at the C2D after reading your post oldfart. I think AMD comes up with better names, IMO.

Considering Barcelona is a server processor I don't think it will be killing many Core 2s. Thus far all I've seen of it are simulated benchmarks, which in and of itself is worrying.
