I visit a fishing web site everyday. It has been up an running for about 7 years.

This morning I was able to get on the site but when I clicked on the message boards to reach the different forums, this error came up.

Site error: the file /www/tidalfish.com/vbulletin/vbulletin-3.6.5/upload/vbseo.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_4.4.so to be installed by the site administrator

Apparently the site administrator needs to take some action.

I Googled ionCube PHP Loader and this came up:

http://www.ioncube.com/loaders.php

If I am reading this right it looks as though I could download what would be necessary to correct the problem from my end.

I have know Idea if I should attempt this or just wait until it is corrected. I do not want to make a mistake and cause myself trouble.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dennis

Clear your internet temp files and cookies.

Clear your Resolve Cache. Go to Start then Run and type in cmd. At the prompt type in ipconfig /FlushDNS and press enter.

Now restart your computer.

Thanks for the reply acklan.

I followed your instructions. I got back on the site and the same error message comes up.

EDIT: I just received this message from the site owner.

Thanks for the email. We are currently working on the message boards updating software. It will be a little up and down this weekend. You should have received a “The message boards are currently down for routine maintenance. They will return shortly” message. But I think with the installs we are doing it is not even allowing that message to work.

Thanks for the note, Tidal Fish will return soon.

I will wait it out. Thanks again for your help acklan.

Quick question though. What does ipconfig /FlushDNS actually do ?

DNS matches the internet IP address with the Domain name. If for some reason the IP address changes or the Cached DNS entires are corrupted it would be like someone changing their phone number. The old number will no longer reach the name associated with the name.
By clearing the Cache you force windows to go to the DNS server (The internet's 4-1-1) and retrieve new DNS information. Most IPSs maintain their own DNS server, and update them daily.
Make sense??
