Hi, I've got a Compaq Presario desktop with 1GB(2 512MB's) RAM installed. I want to upgrade to 2GB, do I install 2 more 512MB sticks? or do I remove what I got and install 2 1GB's? Thanks.

Either setup will work as long as you have 4 memory slots not 2. If you only have 2 you will need the 2x1GB setup. Make sure your 4 RAM sticks work at the same speed or else they will not be compatible unless you change the speed of one pair to match the other.

Ryan...you need to know the model of that presario to be abe to advise about populating the RAM, as for changing the speed of the RAM, slowest module in the population is going to dictate the speed of the other modules, in other word the faster modules will underclock to match the speed of the slower module.

William24, I concur with garmanma, that is where you will find your best information for your computer. If you have any other questions please include the model of you presario so we can find the specifics.
