I have a Compaq Presario 1272 Notebook, I turned it on and am getting a blank screen, can not enter Safe mode, does not respond to restarting, the battery function has never worked. Had it for years had to do a full restore last December, don't use it on line, but nothing like this has ever happened.

I could use some help.

I think the last thing I did was to place an old CD in it, not precisely sure though.

Are you sure its even getting power? If you had a multimeter you could check the power adapter

Can you boot a floppy or CD? Will it enter the BIOS setup?

It will not enter the BIOS nor the Safe mode.

I have the restore disc, but do not want to restore until I find out what is wrong, I will place one in and see what happens.

I placed the CD in and got the w-98 music sound when that program opens, but I still have a dark blue grey screen no curser no nothing !

Thanks

Do you have a monitor around that you could possibly hook up to it?

garmanma,

Thanks, I'm hoping the monitor display is the problem.

I have an extra monitor and will look into this, this will take some time,

I can tell you that I did have a printer installed and it does have a USB port.

I am assuming monitor cable from desk top to notebook should fit in some conective way.
