Wirelss Problem With Laptop

I've upgraded my laptop from Windows 2000 Professional to Windows XP professional. In the midst of this I've lost my ability to use the wireless card in the laptop. I've been trying to solve this most the afternoon and would greatly appreciate any assistance that would get this card working again. Thanks

Does the wifi NIC show up in the Device Manager and if "Yes" does it have a ! or ? next to it?
