Okay I have an acer laptop that has had this problem for almost a year now. When I turn on my computer it shows the white startup screen with Acer in green, then it goes to the black screen that shows information before it brings you to the windows xp loading screen. The problem is that my computer doesnt even make it to the windows xp loading screen. After the startup logo, it goes to the black screen which displays this:
Intel UNDI, PXE-20 (build 082)
Copyrightę 1997-2000 Intel Corporation
For Realtek RTL8139(x) 181301810x PCI Fast Ethernet Controller V2.13 (020326)
PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, Please Check Cable
PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM

After that happens, on the same screen, under the information I typed above, it just copies the same exact info over so it looks like this

Intel UNDI, PXE-20 (build 082)

PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM

Then the screen goes blank, and it keeps on doing the same loop over and over and over and over until I turn my computer off
No Idea whats wrong
Does anyone have at least some idea of what is causing this?
Thanks for any and all help

sounds like your computer is trying to boot via the network card, check in the BIOS for the boot order, make sure that the network card is set to try after the hard drive.

okay if checking in the bios is pressing f2 when the computer starts and going to boot, then this is the order:

Hard drive
Cd/dvd drives
Floppy devices
network

it looks like network is last to me =P
