Hello guys! I was in the process of trying to clean up my sisters computer for her when this happened.

I uninstalled Defender Pro antivirus and firewall because I was installing Zone Alarm Security Suite. Well, when ZA was finished installing, it prompted me to reboot. So when it rebooted.. all was left is the background picture of the desktop.

I CTRL ALT DEL and tried to run "explorer.exe" but it didn't do anything. I also did #195 from http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm. Still, nothing.

It boots up in safe mode just fine. I scanned with Zone Alarm and McAffee Stinger and nothing was found by either.

I really hope someone can help me!

Thanks,

Hollye

Try a system restore back to just before the problem began.
(NOT a restore of the OS, but from Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools.)

How do I get help? Who is helping me?For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear....Become a BleepingComputer fan: Facebook
