Greetings!
I have attempted to eradicate this problem using Spybot, CCleaner, AdAware, DrWebCureIt and Vundo Fixer, to no avail.
While following the bleepingcomputer tutorial, I used Panda and found many issues, but don't really want to pay to fix them.
You know, because I'm cheap.
So, here is my log, any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

As for performance, it has actually not been really bad since I installed the Sygate FW.
I will have to see once I start actually using the desktop again. So, am I clean now?

Your log is clean
If all's ok,please do the following:

Find and delete:
VundoFix.exe
Combofix.exe

C:\VundoFix Backups
C:\QOOBOX

Click on Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
In the 'System Restore' window, click on the 'Create a Restore Point' button, then click 'Next'.
In the window that appears, enter a description\name for the Restore Point, then click on 'Create',wait, then click 'Close'.
The date and time will be created automatically.

Next click on Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Cleanup.
The 'Select Drive' box will appear, click on Ok.
The 'Disk Cleanup for [C:]' box will appear, click on the 'More Options' tab.
At the bottom in the 'System Restore' window, click on the 'Clean up...' button.
A box will pop up 'Are you sure you want to delete all but the most recent restore point?',click on 'Yes'.
Click on 'Yes' at 'Are you sure you want to perform these actions?'.
Now wait until 'Disk Cleanup' finishes and the box disappears.

Hm, I don't have more options on my disk cleanup utility....
I also couldn't find anything similar in the actual system restore utility.
I am running XP home, is that a Pro thing?

All the rest, I did. And thanks, again.

Clear your 'System Restore' points by doing the following:
Right-click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'.
Select 'System Restore'.
Select 'Turn Off System Restore On All Drives'.
Select 'Apply'.
You will then get the following warning:
"You have chosen to turn off System Restore.
If you continue, all existing restore points will be deleted, and you will not be able to track or undo changes to your computer.
Do you want to turn off System Restore?".
Then select 'Yes',your 'System Restore' directories will be purged.

Turn 'System Restore' back on:
Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'.
Select 'System Restore'.
Unselect 'Turn Off System Restore On All Drives'.
Select 'Apply',then click 'Ok'.

Create a new 'System Restore' point:
Click on Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
In the 'System Restore' window, click 'Create a Restore Point' button, then click 'Next'.
In the window that appears, enter a description, then click on 'Create',then click 'Close'.
The date and time is created automatically.

Wow, super-fast reply!

I found it, it was after you select cleanup drive C and then let it calculate. Then it offers the More Options tab.

Looks like I'm a "Dee-duh-dee"
