Embarrassingly enough, my son got on some inappropriate sites and downloaded some "filmclips". Since then we have been bombarded with pop ups warning us of computer virus/trojans...the one currently in the bubble at the bottom of the screen is something called PSW.x-Vir trojan. At the suggestion of the guy at Staples, I bought MacAfee Total Protection 2007, but am still getting these pop ups. They all want me to download their "cleaner" or pop up stopper...I woke up this morning and there was a full page of porn advertisements right there on my computer!!!! Any thoughts on how to just stop all this, short of throwing the damn computer in the trashcan and starting over, would be hugely appreciated!!!!! Thanks. Another one just popped up for SpyBot@MXt trojan! Help!

Hi cowboys5 and Welcome to Bleeping Computer.

Follow the instructions for How to Remove VirusBurst, and report back if you are still experiencing problems.
Chaos reigns within.
Reflect, repent, and reboot.
Order shall return.

Hi cowboys5

Welcome to BleepingComputer.

A very good place to start with this would be here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/34773/preparation-guide-for-use-before-using-malware-removal-tools-and-requesting-help/

If you run carefully through the steps, you will probably find your problem is repaired. If not, carry on and post in the HiJackThis Forum where an expert will guide you through.

Don't give up - everything is fixable one way or another. I'm assuming you have a good Firewall and AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware installed.

Good luck, let's know how you get on.
