No Sound!

hi my first post!!,
anyway, long story short:
(1) while browsing music sites i click a link by accident
(2) i get a trojan =P
(3) me being a noob, i panic and turn my com off str8 away
(4) my antviruse gets broken upon restart
(5) i live with it (for 6 months)
(6) i get annoyed by norton saying i have a trojan but norton itself cant do jack!
(7) i do a system recovery, (NOOB)
(8) i lose sound but i dont think much of it
(9) i reinstall norton
(10) Norton get rid of the virus! YAY
(11) i still have no sound 2 years on after trying almost everything (installing new drivers ect)
(12) i stumble onto bleepingcomputer.com =D
(13) you guys out there help me.... maybe.... pleeeeease?

Im pretty sure its got nothing 2 do with "malware"(ive been looking for a solution for 2 YEARS!!!), i think somethings wrong with xp. Hopefully.
Help? anyone?

Since your problem started with attempting to remove malware it woud be the sensible thing to do to find out if there is still malware on your computer or not. The surest way to do that is post a log as JohnWho advised. Once you are cleared post a new topic in the appropriate forum for your OS if your sound problem is still not fixed.
