I have recently had a series of Windows XP updates that want to install come up as failed when I run the installer. When I have checked them on the microsoft site they are all 2005 and 2006 updates why are they coming back and haunting me now. I have recently installed CCleaner and cleaned up a lot of files could this have caused the problem, I thought it only removed the uninstall files which are not neccesary. Thanks for any input Moksha

Can u be more descriptive on the 'failed' error messages. is it installation issues or validation issues, a few updates / software installation provided by MS now adays require validation online.

On removal of uninstall files, how did u conclude on them being unnecessary. if u feel any software was unnecessary u should uninstall it rather than deleting the files individually.

I am having the same problem. Just reinstalled XP and some updates ran fine. On the 3rd or 4th update set, it dounloaded 78 updates and when I try to install, says "Some of the Updates will not be installed." No error, just that message in a block with updates listed. About 30 Min later they show back up and same thing happens. Any suggestions ??
Thanks in advance

I have no idea if this would help, but, maybe you should choose just a few at a time and then reboot before trying to install more. Some updates will not actually install until after a reboot.

CCleaner is a nice program but probably to nice. If you're not sure of what you're deleting, you should find out before you do

Backup, backup, backup - and in case I forgot to mention it...backup! If things head south it's comforting to know that your essential data has already been saved (Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt!).
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
