so all i have to do is bootcfg /rebuild? i figured that at first i just hadnt got time to post back ive been grounded...i know its the boot.ini file FOR SURE. its set to boot of hda2 but somehow it turned into the first partition...linux used to be partition one but now its 2..so windows loads off hda1 but when boot.ini clicks in its looking on hda2 which is linux which doesent contain hal.dll? i think i get it..ill try later..

thanks
Nick
