ok i am a program writer and today i thought i'd try to create a user poll type thing on logon so i changed the value UserInit from "userinit.exe,NDDEAGNT.EXE" to "startup.vbs,NDDEAGNT.EXE" and in my script it has a line that is supposed to run userinit.exe - in other words before explorer.exe gets loaded my script runs. so after its done it runs userinit.exe which runs explorer but instead when i logon i get logged off. what can i do to fix this? i've tried safe mode it doesn't work so is there a way to get in command prompt without starting windows

If you don't mind, you can share how you manage to solve it. And I think your question should fall under Programming Forum instead of here.

(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892893/en-us) so i used it for example when it said copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe i typed copy userinit.exe startup.vbs - startup.vbs being the name og my program that messed up

Ok. That sounds good to me.

Cheers,
