My friend bleeping-steve bought a Dell Dimension E520 PC. When he unpacked it and booted it up, it asked him to complete the set-up. It asked for a username and a password. He typed in a username, and then the password and confirmation of the password. But now he can't get any further because setup says that the password isn't recognised. It's not that it's invalid - it just uses normal alphabetical letters, no symbols or anything that could be invalid. So now he's stuck.
(He has registered with Bleeping Computer but something seems to have gone wrong with his registration - it says he is logged in, but attempts to post result in a "permission denied" error. Hence I am asking on his behalf.)

Not to be a smart-alec, but has he tried the "Caps Lock" button when typing the password in (both having it on and having it off)?
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
