Opening Browser Is Slow

Im experiencing a long delay between double clicking my browser icon (firefox) and the actual launch of the browswer, sometimes up to 1.5 mins. Can someone please help?

How much memory do you have available? Do you have the latest version?

Im running 768MB of RAM. No I am not using the latest version of firefox, but I will download/install it tonight. Well see if it improves....any other suggestions?
