Over a series of weeks, my IE6 has become corrupted. I did use Firefox, but it too was exhibiting problems in one forum (a very necessary one to me). I uninstalled FF, but now, IE is giving me an error message of 'application not found', when I attempt to click on a link. Since I had previous problems with OE, and ended up creating a new identity to be able to use OE AND save all my communications sent and received, I suspect the IE problem started then, although hidden until a month ago.

I had installed IE7 hoping for success, it caused even more problems than IE6.

I uninstalled IE7.

I tried a repair of IE with the WinXP Pro disk, no joy.
Is there a way to get rid of my current IE6 and reinstall it?

I am afraid I need to re-install windows.

I have a HDD with 3 partitions, Vol1 is my 'C' drive (system)
Vol2 is half the size of the Vol1 drive
Vol3 is same as Vol1 at 55 GB.

Can I install XP Pro on the Vol3 drive and then wipe the Vol1 drive?

all help is gratefully accepted!

The repair for IE is to uninstall Service Pack 2, reboot, then reinstall Service Pack 2 (and all Windows Updates). It'll take a while, but it should fix any problems with the IE program files.

I wonder if it's IE tho', because you've also had issues with Firefox. Have you tried the Netscape browser or the Apple Safari browser? Do they give the same errors?
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

I really don't know what all went gunnybag. I ended up putting in a new HDD, and doing all the installs etc

Thank you for your response, it may help someone else with a similar problem.
