Are these retail CDs or CDs that someone has burned? Are these data CDs or music?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

Maybe you should get hold of one of those CD drive cleaning kits and clean your drive. Also, wipe the CDs with a soft cloth to make sure there is no dirt or smudges on them that might prevent them from being read correctly.

Some CDs won't work with Windows at all, because they're meant for other OS's. Check what OS the CDs are for.
