Windows XP Media Center Edition SP1, Internet Explorer 6.
Note: Throughout all the following, System Restore was disabled.
In a routine scan with Spy Sweeper, I identified Trojan-pushu, quarantined it and deleted it. I restarted in Safe Mode and ran Spy Sweeper. It again identified trojan-pushu. The location was: HKLM\system\controlset001\enum\root\legacy_secdrv\. I quarantined and then deleted this Trojan. Still in Safe Mode, I then ran Zone Alarm Security Suite anti-virus and anti-spyware scans. Neither identified anything. Still in Safe Mode, I ran Ad-Aware complete scan and nothing was identified.

I restarted into normal mode and ran Spybot S&D. Four items were identified (Net Integration, Microsoft.Windows.Active Desktop, and Wild Tangent (2)) but trojan-pushu was not identified. I fixed those problems in Spybot. I then ran Spyware Sweeper and it again identified trojan-pushu during the Registry sweep. I did not attempt to remove the Trojan.
I downloaded and ran AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5. It only identified a tracking cookie, not the Trojan. I ran Panda Ative Scan and McAfee AVERT Stinger and neither identified any malware.
It appears obvious that the trojan appears to be “removed” by Spy Sweeper but, since it is in the Registry, it is reactivated whenever the computer is restarted. Spy Sweeper, Zone Alarm (anti-virus and anti-spyware), Ad-Aware, Spybot, AVG Anti-Spyware, Panda Active Scan and McAfee ADVERT Stinger did not identify (except for Spy Sweeper) or remove the trojan.
I have downloaded and run Hijack This. The resultant log is provided.
