I bought a dvd writer. I installed as per the directions. I fired up the computer and now my cdrom and my dvd writer do not show up anywhere.

Be sure the master/slave jumpers are set correctly on the back of the units with the master being on the end of the cable. Sometimes when moving around in the case you can pull the ribbon cable partially away from the connector on the motherboard. Be sure every thing's connected firmly
