There are several freeware antiviruses and firewalls listed here:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic3616.html

I use and recomment AVG7 for antivirus, and Sygate Personal Firewall, both of which are listed in that topic, along with links to download. If you do not have spyware applications running on your machine, there are some very good free applications listed there, as well.

Welcome to BC!

I hope we can help you with your questions. If you follow the link jgweed posted you will see a list of freeware stuff. I suggest you use the free Sygate firewall for your use.

I use it on my pc all the time. And for a anti-virus I suggest you use AVG also on the list.

Hope this helps you.

You are on the right track, narah18,

getting good advice, too.

Security begins with the very program-types you mentioned.

:flowers: and don't hesitate to ask for clarification.
If the information you seek is already here,
we'll try to link you to it.
If it's not, well
your question(s) will help remedy that, too.
