I'm not smart enough to know what to do about them. Some examples (1) I click on a bookmark & I have to do it 4 or 5 times before it will drop down. (2) After I finally get the drop down & click on a selected bookmark, the mouse seems to pick up info from what ever screen is behind the drop down & will take me to what's underneath where I just clicked on. (3) I click on the back browser arrow & it will take me back 3 or 4 pages instead of the most recent. (4) When I click on an e-mail to open it, it opens multiple windows of the e-mail. I'm not real computer smart. So please help but try to talk simple computerese to me. Thanks

Are you using Firefox for you browser and Thunderbird for you email client? Is this problem occurring in any other applications?

Family and loved ones will always be a priority in my daily life.  You never know when one will leave you.

I use fire fox & outlook express. No I have not tried another mouse. Sorry not sure what you mean by "other application" Another example. If I go back to correct something I'm typing in this reply for instance , I click on the word or space & it will highlight the whole line or whole word (sometimes) & delete it It takes several clicks to disengage it & get the curser in just one spot.

Check your mouse settings in Start-> Control Panel -> Mouse and make sure that the left-click is set to left-click, not double-click. It sounds like it's double clicking everything. Use the keyboard arrows and the start menu button if your having trouble with the mouse.

Everything seems to be checked correctly. I use an infrared mouse & I've unplugged it & cleaned it. Do you think that's the problem ? Should I replace that ? I can't function w/out a mouse. So frustrating !!

I would suggest borrowing a mouse from someone just to check it out and make sure its the mouse, not something else.

Good idea, I had a problem, thought it was the mouse and it turned out to be the keyboard. So if you borrow a mouse and the problem still exists, try swapping keyboards and see if that is the problem.
