When I attempt to access the internet via IE, my computer automatically defaults to the following: http://199.277.321.199/ssredir/gb.html. I've tried to access "hijackthis" in order to run and evaluate but I can't get beyond the above listed address. In fact I can't go anywhere but to this site. I'm currently using another computer to investigate/correspond.

right click IE and select properties. under the general tab you can type in which page you want to be your homepage.

i hope this helps but like i say, check with somebody before you do it.

hope it goes well!

[FONT=Arial][SIZE=14] You will need to download several adware, spyware programs probably to solve this.
You need to download Adaware SE http://lavasoft.element5.com/software/adaware/

Get the new version of HiJackThis also, make sure to put it in a permanent folder!
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe
Post a log file, do not fix anything yet. Let some of the other experts help you out here with the log.

Down Load : SpywareBlaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Also Download: SpyBot S&D 1.3 http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

In SpywareBlaster - Always enable all protection after updates
SpyBot - After an update run immunize

You may have to download these on your friends computer, and then, copy them to a CD or put them on a USB drive, and then install them onto the messed up computer. Run Hijackthis last, after you have put in to it's own folder. Then copy and paste the log into notepad and save it to your A:, then back to your friends computer and Post your HiJackThis Log back here, or under the Spyware-Adware Forum. I know this much, but after this, you need someone who has a Lot more knowledge than me to help you figure out your log. Good Luck!!!
Be sure to run all the other programs and anything they find in RED, remove or delete. Then run Hijackthis.
