Can anyone provide some direction on what, if any, settings, etc. I can check on my laptop to determine why it takes sooo long to download a file. I wanted to download a 490MB .iso file from HP's website and it had a transfer rate of only 6.0MB/second and estimated over 20 hours to download.

Is your laptop connected wirelessly? If so, then that could be your issue right there. Remember also that if you are on a DSL your upload speed and download speeds will vary as well as the number of users who are trying to download that file at the same time as you.
