I recently got one of those dreaded NTLDR messages when I was attempting to open my virtual machine. I am running Win XP Pro on a MacBook 10.4, Accessing via Parallels 3.0. The machine will not recognize the DVD drive so I could reboot, nor the USB drive. My local tech's only suggestion was to "start over" with my virtual machine, by uninstalling/reinstalling XP and Parallels. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Without the ability to recognize the DVD or USB drives, you're pretty limited in the options you have. You'll need something that can access the OS within the VM in order to attempt to repair it. Without that, you're pretty much stuck with rebuilding the VM from scratch. (FWIW - I make a backup copy of each VM that I have and store it on my USB drive in case I need it.)
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
