Hello,

My computer yesterday was infected with the svhost.exe virus. I desperately need to get rid of it, because it's been disabling eveything and I'm afraid my computer is going to crash. How can I remove this, preferably quickly and for free?

Thanks!

svhost.exe is a process which is registered as the W32.Mydoom.I@mm worm. This virus is distributed via the Internet through e-mail and comes in the form of an e-mail message, in the hopes that you open its hostile attachment. The worm has its own SMTP engine which means it gathers E-mails from your local computer and re-distributes itself. In worst cases this worm can allow attackers to access your computer, stealing passwords and personal data.

Install Super Antispyware. Run it in safe mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds.

Hello!

Thanks! However, I also have the CoolWebSearch virus (can anybody help in getting rid of this? It keeps on automatically closing when I try to download an anti CWS page), so it closes the above links.

See if the tool in the link below will remove enough of CWS to allow you to download
the security programs.
