I downloaded and opened a Downloader virus/trojan accidentally, which then attempted to infected the computer with Trojan.Vundo, but was blocked by Norton AntiVirus and deleted(the downloader was not deleted). However, upon connecting to the internet and opening my browser, Mozilla Firefox, separate windows of IE 7 would pop up with adds like hollywood.com, and WinAntiVirusPro2007 mainly, although others showed up as well. Spybot found Smitfraud.c-Toolbar888 and systemdoctor2006, and winantiviruspro2006 infections, which although I had them fixed by spybot, they would come up in subsequent searches and I would continue to have issues. Also, I once or twice got a system popup about my virus definitions being out of date.

Here is my HiJackThis log:

Hello,

First of all, I see you are running Teatimer.
I suggest you to disable it because it can interfere with the changes you'll make on your system.
When everything is done and your log is clean again, you can enable it again.
If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.
How to disable TeaTimer during HijackThis Cleanup
Then, Download ResetTeaTimer.bat.
Double click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer.

Then, * Download Combofix to your desktop.
Doubleclick combofix.exe
Follow the prompts.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished and after reboot (in case it asks to reboot), combofix will open again to gather the necessary information for the log. This may take a bit. When done, Combofix will close and a log should open, combofix.txt.
Post the contents of this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.
Do NOT post the ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt - unless I ask you to.

Hello,

FIRST of all....

Open notepad and copy and paste next present in the quotebox in it:

ren C:\Qoobox\quarantine\C\WINDOWS\system32\msxml3a.dll.vir msxml3a.dll
copy C:\Qoobox\quarantine\C\WINDOWS\system32\msxml3a.dll C:\WINDOWS\system32

Save this as restore.bat , choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
It should look like this: Posted Image
Doubleclick on it and it will flash for a second. That's normal
(In case you are unsure how to create a bat file, take a look here with screenshots.)

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rfbamtkf.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\npoqr.bak2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\npoqr.ini2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rqopn.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\npoqr.bak1
C:\WINDOWS\system32\npoqr.tmp2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnomnm.dll

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{674DDFA6-BB3D-427B-961F-E9EEEF293004}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Browser Helper Objects\{F9A87FDA-F6ED-4B0B-B057-A7C5B69C5927}]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellExecuteHooks]
"{674DDFA6-BB3D-427B-961F-E9EEEF293004}"=-
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\pmnomnm]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\rqopn]

Save this as ComboFix-Do.txt

Then drag the ComboFix-Do.txt into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog.

Hi,

The restore.bat which I asked you to create and run previously - please run it afterwards once again AFTER you ran Combofix.

Hello,

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1DFBF22E-4C86-4F76-B147-1C8FB47585D0} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {E97018AF-2ABE-423A-9293-B2873E86F508} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\rqopn.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FC60649C-B4E6-4ABD-9117-713382A17FE3} - (no file)

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

Navigate to and delete next file and folder:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\yeohqiuc.exe
C:\Qoobox <== folder

Seems as everything is back to normal and clean now... I'm going to run a norton scan and a spybot scan to check. I'll follow up with a final reply if all goes well.

Thanks for all your help, and I'll gladly donate some of my next paycheck to your cause. What you are doing is great so keep up the good work!

Best of Luck!

I think things are clean. However, my parents just had their credit card information used fraudulently today online, and I was wonder if this infection could have caused that (I used the card like 2 weeks ago before I got this infection). If so, is there any further cleaning/clearing I can do to assure that my credit card info is never stolen (other than use my paypal acct)?

Thanks again!

Hi,

We already cleared out everything that we could find/see as malicious.
So, the first thing you should do here is to change all passwords, because when you were infected, passwords were collected.
Also, I suggest you install Keyscrambler: http://www.qfxsoftware.com/products.htm
This is an extra protection against keyloggers.

Most important thing of all - make sure this won't happen again, so I really hope you read my prevention page. Because after all, it's the person who is working on the computer who is responsible for getting infected. Malware doesn't appear just like that. So stay away from illegal sites such as cracksites/warezsites and be careful when using p2p, because in most of the cases, your downloading malware instead of legitimate programs.
