Had a real nasy were I could not open any programs that helped find the little bastard including HJT, Eiwido, CWShredder, etc.
I followed someones advice to disable IExplorer.exe and it worked! Now here is my HJT log. I have run Eiwido and it detected many trojans and viruses. I am running a Dell Latitude D610 with XP SP2. I see many problems but wanted your expert advise before fixing any of it. I had to run in safe mode because my laptop would freeze in normal mode. So this log is from Safe Mode, is that ok?

OK, after reading a few posts and stickies: I ran a HJT log from normal startup and I will post it here. Also ran Ewido and it deleted a few trojans and one viruse. I also ran spybot and it only detected cookies. Ewido detected TR/Dlr.Small.eok.1 .
I also notice that qttask.exe consumes almost all of my CPU so I prioritized it to low. I have not changed the recover setting so I suspect that is why everything reloaded because my CPU is still getting consumed by qttask.exe.

Hello david gonzo,

You have a downloader trojan called Downloader.Agent.awf or Downloader.Agent.ayy.
This trojan replaces legitimate files that are common on most computers with an infected file.

It then moves the legitimate file to a "bak" or backup folder.
Please follow the directions below to run FindAWF so we can identify the files that have been infected and the backups then restore them.

Please download FindAWF:
http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/FindAWF.exe

Save the file to the Desktop
Double-click: FindAWF.exe

If a Security Alert shows, allow the program to run.

When done, a text file awf.txt is produced.

Please post it in your reply.

Man ! Once again timing in life is everything...

I actually used this malware episode to propel me head on into Linux. I have always delved and loved it but refrained from dedication due to hardware drivers scripting and learning to become proficient at downloading/extracting/compiling software. I am now much closer to going all the way Linux. I am fed up with Microsoft for now and will see where this road takes me. I love networking and will also delve into Apache and Network Administration. I had expirienced some nasty trojans/malware/viruses but this episode was truly stubborn and the lack of research material on it was unprecedented. I tried also on AntiOnline and did not have much success either, at that point I knew the data on my platters was destined for erasure.

Thank you for your help and I will see you around the forum.
