It has been a while since I created this problem so I may not have he facts straight but here goes: On my XP Home PC, I had several folders that were private. I needed to do a System Restore? (or something similiar that takes my PC back to a configuration as if it was brand new - perhaps i reloaded the OS) and as a result all my folders were backed up to a folder in a special directory that is not a subset of my user directory. After the restore, I had to creat new user profiles, etc. Now, I can not open the folders (since I am not recognized as the user). Is there any way for me to access the files in these folders????

You might have to take ownership, go HERE for instructions on that. It might have to be done in safe mode.
Let us know if this works.
