My girlfriend's computer won't come on past the start-up menu. She has several files that she doesn't want to lose. Is there a way I can hook my computer to her hard drive and access her files? Thank you for any suggestions.

There are a number of different things you can try.

1. Take the HDD out of your girlfriend's computer and install it as a "slave" in your computer.

2. Take the HDD out of your girlfriend's computer and put it into one of those USB drive caddies so it will work as a USB external drive.

3. Boot you girlfriend's computer using a UBCD and copy the important files off the computer.

Is it a PATA or SATA hdd?

How would I go about installing it as a slave? Thanks.

See this link. The link is kind of old but should give you the info you need.
