Can I use an Office 2007 UPGRADE version (retail) and do a clean install without a previous version of office on the comp?

I currently have XP and Office 2003 professional installed. My office copy is an unbranded OEM version.

I plan to re-format and install Windows Vista Home Premium cleanly and then install Office 2007. Can I do that with an upgrade copy without installing Office 2003 first?

The full versions are just W-A-Y too expensive. Thanks.
