4 gb of Ram shows in Bios

I have a Dell 8400 Dimension 3.4ghz running XP Media 2005. 256 Nvidia 6800
HELP! Will it screw up my system. The ram is 4-1 DDR2 533 mhz chips from Dell.

Did you buy 3gb of ram or 4 from dell?

One of the chips may be bad or not inserted properly.
